(More customer reviews)Whenever purchasing kitchenware, I do my utmost to stay away from plastic, heavy metals or anything else linked to health problems.I do this because my oldest child is on the autism spectrum and many researcher speculate that BPA, Teflon, mercury, lead etc. are linked to the resent explosion of autism spectrum disorders.Reading in the description that these are free of lead and cadmium made me decide on this particular set.I also hoped, given that description, that the bowls would have be manufactured in the US (I really wish Amazon would include the location of manufacture in the item description information).Alas, when I received the bowls they are clearly marked "Made in China."I like the claim that these bowls are free of lead and cadmium but I cannot entirely trust that claim given all the problems with lead in children's toys coming out of China, toys that were supposedly lead free.However, they are attractive bowls, the largest is what I would consider to be about the size of a medium sized mixing bowl.
