The quality is not what you might expect from a company that has been around as long as Pfaltzgraff. They are not as heavy or sturdy as I had hoped. I had one chip shortly after I bought it. I have also read other reviews online stating the dinnerware had similar issues. For that price, it should be better. Maybe that's what you get when an American product is made in China sometimes...
