It holds 8 cups to the top, but the lid takes up a little space since it fits down into the container as you snap it on. So I guess the capacity is more like 7 cups for storage. The manufacturer states the container is NOT for cooking in the microwave, so that is important to know. They recommend the container for transporting. However, it is top rack dishwasher safe, so real easy to clean. These containers stack nicely, too. Mostly, I fill them 3/4 full and use for freezing stuff. The seal is superior and no ice crystals form inside and food stays fresh tasting. The price at under 12 dollars each is reasonable, too. Pyrex storage containers, tho, have the advantage of being ok for oven, freezer, microwave, and storage, so may be a better investment.
