(More customer reviews)We chose this set for its size and price, plus the safety, convenience, and durability of stainless steel; no fumey, peeling Teflon for us .It's hard to find 1.5- and 3-qt saucepans in smaller sets that usually feature the less practical 1- and 2-QT pans .The 10-inch chicken-fryer style pan, with its straight sides and therefore bigger volume, makes for a nice package, too, and can double as a cake pan.The indented rims catch most drips, keeping the outside of the cookware clean. The set is also somewhat attractive in design. We were disappointed to learn that you get what you pay for, however. While we've read of hot spots many times, we had yet to experience them until we saw the cheap, thin-gauge frying pans and kettle rapidly warp under moderate heat, creating a wobbly , bowl-like shape that concentrates heat in the middle.Without sandwich construction or copper or aluminum bottoms, conductivity is extremely poor; even eggs and pancakes don't cook properly, coming out scorched, but raw in the middle.Only the 2 saucepans appear to have reinforced bottoms that resist buckling, but the thin metal handle on the 3-qt bends when full. The vented glass lids are decent enough, we suppose, though rust eventually. If you have little to money to spend, you might want to buy better quality, but just the pans you use most, and wait til you can get a good deal on them.We use this set mainly for mixing bowls, now.
