(More customer reviews)Although Lenox is a US company, these glasses are made in Austria.They resonate well when spinning your finger on the thin rim.Definitely not machine washable.

Lenox is a mystery to me...

1)they make really tacky ceramic china
2)they make excellent glassware

but here is the deal...

1)unlike spiegelau (a division of reidel since reidel bought it recently), there are no distortions in the glass or seams along the stem which are a sign of machine made or poor handmade quality.The reviewer above me states that her/his lot of glasses has a seam.I learned that Lenox has several quality control levels in its distribution.The higher quality seamless glasses are sent to direct customers, premium houses and Amazon.Seamed glasses of the same model are sent to Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Crate and Barrel.(as explained by the Macy's Serramonte, CA manager when I asked why the balloon glasses they carried had the seam)

2)the white house (yes presidents for the last 5 decades) have all used LENOX glassware (if it's good enough for the commander in chief ....)

3)lenox is one of the oldest and most respected glassware houses in the US.

I LOVE THESE GLASSES!MY GUESTS ALL THINK THAT THEY ARE REIDEL, and wHEN I EXPLAIN WHO LENOX IS >... WELL LETS JUST SAY THERE ARE MANY CONVERTS.

A BARGAIN FOR SUCH SUPERIOR QUALITY THAT I AM HESITANT TO POST THIS FEARING DEMAND WILL HEIGHTEN AND PRICES WILL RISE....

(More customer reviews)I am, in general, a great fan of Lenox Tuscany stemware. These glasses are yet another example of what I love about the collection. They are, perhaps, the most plain and ordinary looking glasses in the Tuscany collection, but that only lends to their all-purpose convenience. They are intended as water goblets, of course, but their classic wineglass shape is perfect for when you don't want to fuss with matching specific wineglass shapes to specific varietals. And as always, they have the elegantly tall Tuscany stem, which really ups their presentation value.

One word of caution. When I ordered these glasses they initially came broken. In my experience, Amazon is always excellent about replacing damaged items (replacing them quickly and with no added cost to me), and this time was no exception. They shipped out replacement glasses as soon as I reported the damage. But just a word of caution: If you're ordering these glasses for a particular occasion, order them well in advance so in the event any get broken you can get replacements in time.

Waterford Wishes Love and Romance Flutes, Set of 2 Review

One of our original wine glasses was broken soon after our wedding so these were replacements 40 years later. My wife is of Irish ancestry making the gift even more appropriate. They are a beautiful wedding or anniversary memento.

(More customer reviews)Last month I decided to try ordering this item again. Back in April when I ordered it (see review below), the glasses broke during shipping not once but twice. I decided to give it another try, because I've very much been wanting these glasses and I have honestly found Amazon to be quite phenomenal in replacing damaged items at no extra cost to me and in getting replacement items shipped quickly (i.e. they don't wait to receive the returned, damaged item before sending the replacement, but rather send it immediately upon report of the damage). And so I ordered these glasses and they arrived in excellent shape. They're an excellent complement to the rest of my Tuscany collection, and I like the size and shape much better than the Balloon Wine Tuscany glasses. My advice is to go ahead and order these glasses. Amazon will dutifully replace them if they arrived damaged. Just make sure you're not ordering on a deadline. OLD REVIEW:

I adore Lenox Tuscany Classics, collect them myself and buy them as gifts for friends. I have ordered Lenox Tuscany Classics, or had them ordered for me from my wish list, on Amazon many times. In fact, I've ordered all sorts of wine glasses on Amazon and never had a problem. Last week, however, I decided to order these Grand Beaujolais glasses as a birthday gift for a friend. The glasses never reached my house because UPS reported them damaged in shipment. Amazon kindly offered to send a replacement and upgrade free to 2-day shipping. Once again, UPS reported them damaged in shipment. Amazon very kindly gave me a full refund at this point so that I could purchase the glasses locally in time for my friend's birthday.

I have had a great experience, overall, ordering glassware from Amazon and will order glasses from them in the future, but there seems to be a shipping issue with these glasses in particular.
