(More customer reviews)It's not easy finding a china pattern of high quality in plain white, but Wedgewood White fits the bill. The pieces are formal in shape and they are slightly translucent when held to the light, as bone china should be. The plates are not oversized, as some other white china patterns are. As far as color goes they are a bright white, but not glaring white if that makes sense. I love the fact that the simple design will allow me to add seasonal accent plates and chargers that I can change with the holiday.

(More customer reviews)Although Lenox is a US company, these glasses are made in Austria.They resonate well when spinning your finger on the thin rim.Definitely not machine washable.

Lenox is a mystery to me...

1)they make really tacky ceramic china
2)they make excellent glassware

but here is the deal...

1)unlike spiegelau (a division of reidel since reidel bought it recently), there are no distortions in the glass or seams along the stem which are a sign of machine made or poor handmade quality.The reviewer above me states that her/his lot of glasses has a seam.I learned that Lenox has several quality control levels in its distribution.The higher quality seamless glasses are sent to direct customers, premium houses and Amazon.Seamed glasses of the same model are sent to Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Crate and Barrel.(as explained by the Macy's Serramonte, CA manager when I asked why the balloon glasses they carried had the seam)

2)the white house (yes presidents for the last 5 decades) have all used LENOX glassware (if it's good enough for the commander in chief ....)

3)lenox is one of the oldest and most respected glassware houses in the US.

I LOVE THESE GLASSES!MY GUESTS ALL THINK THAT THEY ARE REIDEL, and wHEN I EXPLAIN WHO LENOX IS >... WELL LETS JUST SAY THERE ARE MANY CONVERTS.

A BARGAIN FOR SUCH SUPERIOR QUALITY THAT I AM HESITANT TO POST THIS FEARING DEMAND WILL HEIGHTEN AND PRICES WILL RISE....

(More customer reviews)I am wine snob/geek and know the difference that quality wine-specific stemware can make in the enjoyment of fine wine. These glasses match up with the best Riedels but you can buy. But here's the big difference: You can buy 8 Lennox classes for less than the cost of 2 comparable Reidels. It should be noted that just like Riedel, these glasses are made in Austria. We love drinking wine in these glasses, our friends love drinking wine in these glasses and you will love drinking wine in these glasses too.
One caution:I sure would like to know more about the "lifetime warranty" mentioned in the Amazon.com description, as nothing came with the glasses on this. However, this is not the first time that I have been milead by Amazon.com on warranty issues.

(More customer reviews)We've just purchase two 4-piece settings of Lenox Chirp as a wedding gift for an older couple.The birds make a nice reference to a couple settling down together.It is lovely and we wish we could afford more settings. We like this pattern because the individual plates and bowls can be used as accent serving pieces to dress up a plain everyday table setting and the mug is a practical shape and size. The pattern is just beautiful and the colors are very rich. The plates feel very solid when held, not as if they may break if handled roughly. There are many additional pieces, giving us more opportunity over the years to give individual serving or ornamental pieces as additional gifts. It's been a very popular pattern for Lenox, so we hope it won't be discontinued quickly. We did find that the linens that are available to go with the setting are of a fussy material, a little shiny and slick.

(More customer reviews)I am, in general, a great fan of Lenox Tuscany stemware. These glasses are yet another example of what I love about the collection. They are, perhaps, the most plain and ordinary looking glasses in the Tuscany collection, but that only lends to their all-purpose convenience. They are intended as water goblets, of course, but their classic wineglass shape is perfect for when you don't want to fuss with matching specific wineglass shapes to specific varietals. And as always, they have the elegantly tall Tuscany stem, which really ups their presentation value.

One word of caution. When I ordered these glasses they initially came broken. In my experience, Amazon is always excellent about replacing damaged items (replacing them quickly and with no added cost to me), and this time was no exception. They shipped out replacement glasses as soon as I reported the damage. But just a word of caution: If you're ordering these glasses for a particular occasion, order them well in advance so in the event any get broken you can get replacements in time.

Because it's so easy to clean, you could use it every day. The pattern is very simple and elegant so it looks great at a special holiday dinner or a more casual meal. This is the only china I've been able to find anywhere that will go in the dishwasher and microwave safely and is still reasonably priced.

I use them of course as coasters, but they can be used as teabag holders, individual butter, olive oil or soy sauce plates. Moreover, with votives on them, they can make perfect asian style teacup/saucer set. I will order one more because it is a set of only 4, so that I can use them with my 18 piece dinner set for 6.
