(More customer reviews)I purchased this on the Friday sale for a real bargain price ($20) and that is quite deal.

This is the real stuff - heavy duty, quality construction.I have used them with and without a silpat for baking cookies, finishing satueed fish fillets, oven roasting vegetables and many other purposes.

They are easy to clean and substantial.There do not seem to be any hot spots or other problems.

The only complaint I have, and I make it with reservations, is that they ARE heavy.Do not try to lift a loaded sheet out of the oven with one hand.The weight is also a good thing (see "substantial" above) but it easy to forget just how heavy it is going to be when you reach for that hot pad!

What a disappointment!I will toss them out and look for dishcloths made in the USA, if I can find such an animal.

I did have trouble getting oil hot enough to cook meat in a timely manner. Probably need a larger source of heat. The meat cooked, oil was hot/bubbled, but not like I've seen it in restaurants and took much longer.

Excellent with cheese or chocolate - smooth, even heat due to quality material. I highly recommend this set - well worth the $$. I bought both the square blue and round red sets.

The serving bowl does not have a platinum rim. Our son was glad. It seems they chose the china because it will go in the microwave and oven which would not be possible with a platinum rim.

Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles Pink 5-Piece Place Setting Review

(More customer reviews)I own an older piece from England. It hangs on my wall, the color is very bright after all of these years.
My newer ones that I just purchased from here, which are made in China- huge difference in color tone, not as bright.

The glaze - some pieces have a couple of bumps just minor flaws. As far as stacking them up on a shelf, it needs paper towel in between pieces for some of the very edges of the plates are not smooth as my older piece has a very smooth back.

Dinner plates - nice, pretty

Salad plates - nice, pretty

Cereal bowl - nice, pretty

Cup and saucer -
Cup very small design not as pretty to look at it. It looks very cheap comparing with the rest of the set.
Saucer, picture not as visible.
Very poor job on both pieces, not as dainty and delicate as the older Johnson Brothers from England. I was very disappointed with both pieces.

Overall review -
The feel of the pieces are the same as my older piece. Glaze and looks are OK, it could be better, taking in consideration that this carries the title/name of a well known name in the tableware/china industry.

I am very sadden that some of the major British dinnerware companies have given up quality for production costs.

I gave it a four star because the set still looks very charming and pretty overall. It still makes a very attractive dinner table with all of the charms of the past.

Shipping was quick. Well packaged and no broken pieces.

I will be getting all of the cups and spoons!
[Update:The one-cup cup is fairly large at 4 inches, making getting into some containers difficult, and can be messy.I bake bread and find that leveling the flour requires a long, straight edge because of the size, and if I don't measure over the sink, I make a mess.I haven't found a suitable alternative, though.]

(More customer reviews)I was very excited to buy a new set of everyday dishes after 20 years!!We redid our kitchen and it was time to change the dishes to match.We've had a different Pfaltzgraff pattern all these years and thought it would be safe going with the same brand.The color of the orbit tan is a little darker than expected against our medium tone wood table, but solved that with tan placemats.Very happy with the size of all the pieces even if the dinner plates are a little big for the dishwasher!The set looked great at first.Biggest drawback and point of great dissatisfaction is the chipping that has happened.This is contrary to the other review.We have not been "banging" them around, it's just the occasional hit as your stacking, etc.Just purchased the plates this past winter and already have chips in almost all the large plates and not small chips, big ones.Some of the bowls have chips now too.And when they chip, it's white underneath!I've glued a lot of the pieces back if they were still in one piece and manageable.But, I'm very discouraged about that.I feel like we have to treat them like china.We like to entertain and I'm embarrassed to put these plates on the table with company.20 years with the other set with small children did not produce the results we have with this new set and grown children handling them!
