Uses a sterno for the heat source, so that gives off a bit of a smell if your face is right over the pot. Other than that it's fantastic. It heats up evenly and pretty quickly. You haven't lived until you've had chocolate and cheese fondue.

(More customer reviews)I received this fondue pot as a Christmas gift, only to be disappointed to find that it did not come with ANY instructions.... nothing that tells you how to put it together, what fuel to use, etc.Also, there were no recipes, and no fuel pot.I went back to Target to look at the ones they had there, and they also did not have the above mentioned items. I also could not find any fuel or fuel pots sold for this item. Without instructions, I would have no idea how to use it, so I will be returning it.I bought another fondue pot instead.

(More customer reviews)To some the price might seem a little high, but if you are looking for a top quality fondue pot this is the one to buy.The pot itself is heavy and holds and distributes heat very well.I've used many other fondue pots with less than perfect results.

We make a lot of cheese and chocolate fondue and I have never burned either with this pot, even when the fondue has had a flame on it for a couple of hours.

The base is very sturdy and I have no fear of the pot falling off it even when the kids are goofing around trying to get last of the chocolate.

The burner always lights for me (some others I've used have not worked as well).It burns liquid fuel and jel fuel so there is never a problem trying to decide what to buy.Use the liquid when you need a hotter flame (for broths and deep frying), use the jel for a slightly cooler flame (for cheese and chocolate).But, either fuel will work for whatever you are heating.

I like this fondue pot so much I've order a second one.If you really like fondue and want something that will last, this fondue set is worth every penny.

Swissmar Lausanne 11 Piece Copper Fondue Set Review

(More customer reviews)This Swissmar fondue set is excellent. I love how stylish it is. I looked on Amazon and other sites looking for a flexible fondue set that could do:

- cheeses
- broths for meat
- chocolate

Flexibility is what I was looking for. The 3 in 1 is perfect for doing cheese to start with, when done with that course, remove the ceramic bowl, pour the water out of the copper pot, and put in your broth. Although I haven't used it for chocolate yet, I'm sure it will work well for that. Using this setup for cheese is better than ones that have the burner directly heating the bottom of the bowl instead of water between the pot and bowl which more evenly distributes the heat. Others tend to burn on the bottom unless you constantly stir. Of course if you're into the tradition of Swiss fondue cooking, the "thick" part in the bottom is the tasty part for your special guest!

The burner is hot enough to keep your broth simmering unlike another I have used. Also it holds enough fuel to keep things going throughout that course. You will need to refill it between cheese and broth - of course make sure it's extinguished and cool before doing so. I used bottled gel purchased from a local cooking store.

An excellent purchase - I am very happy with it.

I did have trouble getting oil hot enough to cook meat in a timely manner. Probably need a larger source of heat. The meat cooked, oil was hot/bubbled, but not like I've seen it in restaurants and took much longer.

Excellent with cheese or chocolate - smooth, even heat due to quality material. I highly recommend this set - well worth the $$. I bought both the square blue and round red sets.

Rival Stainless Steel Fondue Pot Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this set for my husband and thought we might make fondue every once in a while. It is so easy to clean and extremely easy to use, that we cook in it all the time. We have made several cheese fondues, broths and chocolate. Unlike the "burner" type of fondue sets, this is safe and heats evenly and quickly. I can leave the room and not worry about setting the house on fire. The plug fits well and will only come out if you trip over the cord. This is great if you have pets or kids running around. You will not lose your dinner if someone is clutsy.

We brought our set over to my in-laws for Christmas for a cheese appetizer and it was a huge hit. My mother in law used her set for chocolate. Hers had the flame below and did not heat evenly and took significantly longer to heat the chocolate. It took me seconds to clean my set while my mother in law was scrubbing her old style set. I would highly recommend this brand and type of fondue set!

(More customer reviews)Fondue is making a comeback, and having the right dishes and serving ware makes the whole experience more enjoyable. Having different dipping sauces is a part of the fun.

Eating fondue off a "regular" plate results in mixed sauces, oil or broth diluting things, and in general a mess.

The sections on this plate work admirably for segregating sauces and fondue items, and the un-sectioned half of the plate is plenty of room to hold your finished foods. The four sections are large and deep enough to hold plenty of your favorite dipping sauces, or selections of items to fondue.

The only drawback is storage. These are heavy, thick plates, and the backs of them are smooth, which means that the plates do not stack nicely for storage. It would have been nice for the sections of the places to fit into recesses in the back a little so they could store stacked instead of precariously balanced.

The individual parts of this fondue set are pretty much ok - the glaze on the pot is good, I like that the pot and base pieces are all iron. The forks are a bit cheap but adequate. What will forever bug the user about this set though is that the pot doesn't sit nicely on the base as the photo suggests. It's as if one person designed the pot and another person designed the base, and there was no adult standing around to suggest that someone actually try these together before putting them in production. It's not dangerous, just dumb. Hello Rachel Ray, didn't either you or your staff look at this or do you not care?
