(More customer reviews)We are very picky about flatware, and this set passed our criteria.The pieces are long and elegant.A little larger than average, each peice is well ballanced and has a nice weight.Looks and feels like an expensive set.The high polish and timeless style makes this set nice enough for the good china, but affordable enough to enjoy it for everyday use.

Mikasa Gourmet Basics Chloe 20-piece Service for 4-Set Includes 4 of each of the following: dinner forks, knives, salad forks, dinner spoons, teaspoon. Stainless steel is completely dishwasher-safe and easy to maintain. Follow these few simple hints to ensure that your fine stainless steel flatware lasts for many years: Wash flatware prior to using for the first time. Avoid soaking stainless flatware in water for a prolonged period of time or overnight Before placing in washer, rinse food from flatware When loading your dishwasher, make sure knife blades do not come into contact with other utensils. This will prevent blades from nicking or scratching other pieces. Use a mild non-chloride detergent.Never pour detergent directly onto flatware.In hard water areas, use a water-softening agent to avoid spotting or pitting. Always remove stainless flatware from the dishwasher shortly after the drying cycle is complete. This decreases the amount of time your flatware is exposed to a very moist and hot environment and allows it to dry in cool drier air. Should detergent film build up on your flatware, wash (either by hand or in a dishwasher) and hand-dry to remove film. If stubborn stains or rust should occur, use a non-abrasive stainless or metal polish paste or cream. Avoid grainy cleaners.Limit exposure to water that has a high mineral content, high chloride dishwashing detergent and foods that contain chloride (table salt, mustard, mayonnaise and eggs) as pitting or spotting may occur.

(More customer reviews)I have had my set of SCANPANs for 5 years.They are the most awesome pans you will ever buy.I bought mine when I was in college.My wife said I could do anything I wanted with my bonus from work so what did I do?I bought a set of SCANPANs.And I really wanted a 17" monitor.But the pans won in the end.
The pans are solid.Thankfully my wife hasn't hit me over the head with one yet.You feel the difference when you take them out of the box.Then you cook with them and notice how evenly they heat up.No hot spots here.Just solid cooking performance all the way around.
Cleaning the pans is easy.Just grab your favorite steel wool pad or scouring pad and scrub away.The surface is not the best nonstick on the original set I bought but for the most part the food comes off rather easily.Keep reading...
The glass lids are heavy duty Pyrex glass.It sure is nice to be able to see the food as you are cooking it.Do be careful as the glass lids will chip or break.I have several that have bounced off of the ceramic tile and chipped the edges.They still work.I haven't had one break yet and I am rough when I do the dishes.I broke two sets of glasses washing dishes in my first two years of marriage.We now use Mason canning jars for drinking.No warranty on the lids though.
The lifetime warranty is worth it.The 11-Inch Covered Saute got some pot marks in the bottom of the pan.These things happen when you use the pan almost everyday and abuse the heck out of it.so I sent it in to SCANPAN for replacement.In 3 weeks I had a brand new pan; one of the new ones with the New Tek coating.It is an awesome pan.The new stuff is truly non-stick, much better than before.
I highly recommend these pans.What other male would spend this much on a set of pans while still in college.With the lifetime warranty I will have these pans buried with me.Who says you can't take it with you.

(More customer reviews)I received this wonderful set of pots and pans. They looked beautiful!!! When I went to put the lid on the large sauce pan, it would not fit. The pan is warped. I called the number that the warrenty gave and told them of the defective item. Their response was that because I bought the items through AMAZON that they would do nothing to help me. They make the product not AMAZON. So, as a result of them not standing by their product and their warranty I will not order another product that holds this name again. There are to many competitors that make fine cookware to spend my money on this company.

Farberware 50049 Classic Stainless Steel 15-Piece Cookware Set Review

(More customer reviews)We're happy with our 20-year-old Farberware stainless steel cookware, pre-dating the stainless steel capped base. The interiors are still like new.The lids are shiny and dent-free.The handles are faded, but remain tight with an occasional turn of a screw.We use it everyday.

We are equally pleased with the newer "Classic" pieces, especially with the added weight and improved appearance of the capped bases.We bought the 15-piece set, giving us some redundant pieces but at a better price than buying fewer pieces individually.

We like stainless steel for several reasons:It cooks well.We can use metal utensils. It lasts for decades.It's dishwasher safe without consequence.It looks good.It's heavy enough.It cleans up easily.(For occasional stuck on food, we simply blot out what's loose, add water, and bring to a boil.After a few seconds, the stuck on food wipes off easily.)

There's pricier cookware available, some with aluminum cores that extend up the sides of the pan, some with copper clad bases, some with handles rated to 500 degrees, some made of anodized aluminum, and some so heavy you can use it as part of your fitness program.After years of no-complaints with our Farberware Classic stainless steel, we can't see paying the premium prices for anything else.We don't use our cookware in the oven, so we're okay with our 350-degree handles.

One complaint with the set:The non-stick skillets are 100% ALUMINUM with a PLAIN exterior and NO heavy base cap.Per Farberware's own website (caps added for emphasis): "Aluminum stains easily and reacts with certain foods. A nonstick interior and PORCELAIN OR NONSTICK EXTERIOR prevents staining and food reaction. Nonstick aluminum is dishwasher safe. A PLAIN AUMINUM EXTERIOR may discolor in the dishwasher."

We use stainless steel for most of our cooking, but still prefer non-stick skillets for some things.We'd like the skillets in this set better if they at least had an exterior finish on them.

Follow-up:We gave away the aluminum skillets from this set and bought a set of Cuisinart stainless steel non-stick skillets to use alongside our collection of Farberware stainless steel.
