(More customer reviews)I just recieved this yesterday and I thought you couldn't go wrong with Cast Iron but its not cast iron it is Aluminum with some strange finish on it. On top of this it was all scratched up and appeared to be used.

Inside the pot there was a piece of paper saying aluminum does not needto be treatedwith oil.

I threw away the spices and and 2 bags for breading since it said right on the front Monosodium Glutamate . Humm would you like a headache with some false advertising thrown in ?

I am more upset that this thing weighs over 30 lbs and its not even woth sending back since I got it on sale from Amazon directly for $39.00

(More customer reviews)This is a wonderful pot, as beautiful as it is useful. Although large enough for a big dish, it's also good for moderate-sized recipes, where for example you fry onions and have to stir a lot -- the ingredients don't overflow the pot or splash out. Seasoning it was a snap: just rub in a bit of cooking oil. Because it heats up well on low heat, there's less danger of burning the food. And of course, this glossy red pot looks great! The interior finish is black enamel; has to be treated carefully (wooden or plastic utensils), but can't, I assume, discolor or show scratches. The only drawback for some may be its weight: the pot alone weighs 8 pounds and the lid 5 pounds. Add some contents and you have a hefty piece, which might be too much for some to lift out, hot, from the oven.

That's one of my sensory memories: Mom tapping the spoon on the side after stirring something, making a deeply satisfying DONG sound (uhhhh, the pot, not Mom). She lost all her Magnalite pots in Hurricane Katrina, so when my parents bought a new home, my siblings and I got my Mom the whole Magnalite set and this pot to set her straight again. She was ecstatic to have something familiar again, and she's still as happy nearly two years later. OK, she's not constantly as happy. Sometimes she gets mad at my dad when he feeds the dog jelly beans. But still. Totally worth it.

(More customer reviews)I have hoped to find a true competitor to Le Creuset for years, one that was more affordable and of the same quality.Staub fills the bill, and fills it with style.This cocotte is large enough to accomodate a good-sized chicken, and is perfect for slow-cooked stews and braises.The interior coating is easy to clean and effectively non-stick.While its weight may be a deterrent for some, it is so attractive that it can be left on the stovetop or on a counter for easy access.It is my best purchase of the year and I look forward to using it for years to come.

Gourmet Chef Stainless Steel Dutch Ovens Review

(More customer reviews)This product is nothing special. By that, I mean it's not an amazing piece of cookware that makes your food magically perfect. Rather, it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and it does so at a great rediculously low price. I bought this pot because I wanted a stainless steel pot in which I could make my Mexican rice and slow-cooking dishes. And it does all of those things well. The sides are slightly on the thin side, but the bottom is a bit thicker and heats quickly. If you're looking for a very inexpensive stainless steel pot for your basic cooking needs, you can't go wrong here. I can't predict how long it will last, but at a little over $11, I'll be satisfied if I get a good 3 years out of it.

(More customer reviews)Do you gaze longingly at your pot while it happily does it's thing? You will if you get this one. It is like a little jewel on my stove. I got it for significantly cheaper from Will..Son.. (surprisingly) than the $150 listed here. The enamel seems much nicer than Le Creuset and I like the solid lid with basting spikes. I thought initially the rim around the top of the lid was just a cosmetic reminder of the way charcoal is held on the top of a classic dutch oven. I heard however it could be used to put ice water to encourage condensation. I also like the black enamel interior better since it seems easier to clean (perhaps by appearance). The lid knob is nice but a little small for the weight of the thing...you can use it to lift straight up but if you try to turn it sideways it will feel like it's cutting into your fingers.

(More customer reviews)My mother always used Guardian Service cookware, bought back in the early 1950's, which was the ultimate in cookware then, also being cast aluminum. I inherited her cookware (which they no longer make) but not until I had already purchased a Magnalite set, which is the closest match to the Guardian Service. It is true waterless cooking. Easy clean up. I never had to "season" mine first (that's usually only done with cast iron cookware) and I've had most of my Magnalite pieces for 30 years. A 15 lb turkey fits in the 15" roaster and I get raves every Thanksgiving . . . the roaster practically makes it's own dark, rich gravy and the turkey meat is so moist! To me, as a devoted family "chef", nothing on the market can beat Magnalite.

I now own the complete offering of Calphalon Unison cookware, including Utensils, Towels and Pot Holders. What a difference good cookware can do for your cooking. Also save on the amount of cookware you use. I seared a small roast on the stove top, than put it in the oven in the same pot. Also made homemade gravy (sauce) in the 8 quart stock pot, had it simmering for over 6 hours and there was no burnt sauce on the bottom of the pot. Clean up is a breeze, alittle Dawn dish detergent and a Dobie pad a couple a swirls around the inside and the outside of the Pan/Pot/Lid, rince it off, towel dry and back into the cabinet. They are also dishwasher safe. I am so glad I decided to go with the Calphalon Unison. If you are looking for a good set of cookware, don't look any further.

Prime Cookware 8 Piece Square Stainless Steel Cookware Set with Glass Lids Review

(More customer reviews)Which is what one of my concerns were when I purchased the set on Overstock & paid twenty dollars more than they are listed here. Still I like the way food cooks evenly. All of the glass lids fit snugly. The pan that is used for "frying" which I don't do much of does show heat discoloration inside bottom of it after my husband fried strips of chicken. The other pans have no discoloration even though I have boiled water (to cook rice)(which turned out perfect & didn't stick)& it looks like new. Clean up is easy. No need to scrub.
I bought the set about four months ago & so far I am pleased with the the look, the feel, the durability & something I totally unexpected is that the stainless steel handles stay cool to the touch!
The glass lids have a small hole in them for the steam escape route which is perfect. The handle of the lids also stay cool.
I grew up cooking with cast iron & stainless steel only. As an adult, I too fell for the "silverstone" cookware. T-FAL was some of the worst silverstone cookware I ever had the displeasure of cooking with. A gift from my dear Dad, I never told him...he was convinced it was great cookware...and now of course we are told it's unhealthy to cook with silverstone.I threw it all out & decided to go back to all stainless steel & cast iron.
I will continue to revamp all of my kitchen wares & gadgets with stainless steel for durability, longevity, & oh yes...I think it is good looking.
Thinking about purchasing a second set for my expanding family...
